Fourways Gardens is still the place to be

As the first declared residential estate in South Africa, Fourways Gardens celebrates 35-years this year.  Having pioneered the establishment of secure suburban living and facing the challenges of growing crime in South Africa, Fourways Gardens offers an unparalleled family lifestyle. As newer, more modern estates spring up all around it, Fourways Gardens has remained at the forefront of the developments by constantly upgrading their facilities to meet the demands of a modern lifestyle.

Recently the entire estate was fitted with high speed fibre internet access via a variety of service providers.  The clubhouse was also recently renovated, and an external food operator appointed to manage the restaurant at the clubhouse. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are offered 7-days a week, ensuring that the clubhouse remains the heart of the estate where business meetings, social gatherings and casual cups of coffee are shared.  The Home Owners Association is very pro-active in arranging regular get togethers for residents including wine tastings, fun runs, movie nights and other family events.  Special events such as Christmas, Easter, Halloween, and Valentine’s day are celebrated in the estate and creates a festive atmosphere and enhancing community spirit.

In keeping with technology growth, Fourways Gardens have recently upgraded their security system as well as the gate access system to provide peace of mind to residents.  The 24-hour security team pride themselves in keeping incidents of break ins to an all-time low.

Residents easily enter and leave the estate with biometric fingerprint controls at the boom gates.  They are also able to control the access of their guests using the EntryPro system which generates codes to enter the estate.

Permission was recently granted by the Johannesburg Road’s agency for the Home Owners Association to maintain the internal roads themselves.  This is a major success for the Fourways Gardens Home Owners Association, which has lobbied tirelessly in order to ensure that the condition of the roads are maintained to the standards of the home owners.  Over time the roads had become neglected and some were in a terrible condition, however the HOA now have a roll-out plan to repair and recondition the roads starting as soon as JRA approves the estate’s scope of work.

One of the most exciting features of Fourways Gardens is the nature reserve, currently in Phase 1, that was established at conception to preserve the granite Koppie which was occupied by Stone Age people.  The nature reserve is a peaceful, natural space with a dam to encourage small wildlife.  There are walkways and benches for recreation in the many parks as well as a bird hide where residents can view the wide variety of bird life including the resident Blue and Wattle Cranes.

Fourways Gardens has maintained the balance between history and innovation perfectly by regularly upgrading and growing the estate while keeping true to its originality.

For young families, the estate provides an ideal social environment which provides a healthy representation of what community life is all about.
